Mardi Gras parade

Beads and floats

A Mardi Gras parade is a festive procession held during Carnival season, especially in New Orleans, featuring elaborate floats, costumed riders, marching bands, and crowds of revelers.

Participants on floats traditionally throw beads, trinkets, and other small items to spectators lining the streets: We caught dozens of beads at the Mardi Gras parade.

The parades are organized by social clubs called krewes, each staging its own themed procession in the days leading up to Fat Tuesday.
