Möbius strip
Twisted paper band
A Möbius strip is a surface with only one side and one edge, created by taking a rectangular strip, giving it a half-twist, and joining the ends together.
If you trace a line along the surface, you'll return to your starting point having covered both "sides" without lifting your finger or crossing an edge.
This mathematical curiosity, named after German mathematician August Ferdinand Möbius, appears in discussions of topology and has practical applications in conveyor belts and recording tapes that wear evenly on both surfaces.
