Lehman
2008 bankruptcy firm
Lehman most commonly refers to Lehman Brothers, the American investment bank whose 2008 collapse became the largest bankruptcy filing in U.S. history and a defining moment of the global financial crisis.
The name has become shorthand for catastrophic institutional failure: We can't afford another Lehman moment.
As a surname of German origin, it originally meant a feudal tenant or vassal.
