Kevorkian

Assisted suicide advocate

Kevorkian refers to Jack Kevorkian (1928–2011), an American physician who advocated for and practiced assisted suicide, helping terminally ill patients end their lives.

His name became shorthand for assisted death or mercy killing: They called him Dr. Death, but to his supporters he was a compassionate Kevorkian figure.

The name often carries a dark or sardonic edge when used allusively.
