June solstice
Longest daylight day
The June solstice is the moment when the sun reaches its northernmost point in the sky, occurring around June 20-21 each year.
In the Northern Hemisphere, this marks the summer solstice—the longest day and shortest night.
In the Southern Hemisphere, it's the winter solstice.
The term avoids the northern bias of calling it simply "the summer solstice."
