Hutchinson's teeth
Congenital infection sign
Hutchinson's teeth are a dental abnormality associated with congenital syphilis, characterized by permanent incisors that are smaller than normal, widely spaced, and notched at the biting edge.
Named for the English physician Jonathan Hutchinson, who identified them as part of a diagnostic triad along with interstitial keratitis and eighth nerve deafness.
The condition results from syphilis transmitted from mother to fetus during pregnancy.
