Holy Roller
Ecstatic church member
Holy Roller is a dismissive term for a Christian who worships with intense physical and emotional expression—shouting, speaking in tongues, falling to the floor, or rolling in ecstasy.
Originally directed at Pentecostals and similar evangelical groups, the term mocks enthusiastic worship as undignified or excessive: Those Holy Rollers down the road make a racket every Sunday.
