Dougal
Dougal is a Scottish and Irish given name, an anglicized form of the Gaelic Dubhghall, meaning "dark stranger"—a term originally applied to Vikings.
The name remains most common in Scotland: Dougal was the only one who could calm the sheepdog.
It gained wider recognition as the shaggy dog character in the British animated series *The Magic Roundabout*.
