Dallas Buyers Club

Texas HIV film

Dallas Buyers Club is a 2013 American film about Ron Woodroof, a Texas man diagnosed with AIDS who smuggled unapproved medications into the United States and distributed them through a membership-based "buyers club" to circumvent pharmaceutical regulations.

The film earned Matthew McConaughey and Jared Leto Academy Awards for their performances.

The title has become shorthand for grassroots efforts to obtain medications outside official channels: patients setting up their own Dallas Buyers Club for experimental treatments.
