Cuba embargo
Caribbean trade ban
The Cuba embargo is the United States' comprehensive trade and economic sanctions against Cuba, in place since the early 1960s following the Cuban Revolution.
It restricts American businesses and citizens from trading with or traveling freely to Cuba.
Often called the embargo in discussions of U.S.-Cuba relations, or el bloqueo (the blockade) by Cubans.
The policy remains one of the longest-standing embargoes in modern history.
