Broadway tunes

Broadway tunes are songs from musical theater productions, particularly those staged in New York City's Broadway district.

The term evokes a distinctive style—melodic, theatrical, often sentimental—associated with classic American musicals: She spent the afternoon playing Broadway tunes on the piano.

The phrase can carry a slightly dismissive tone when contrasted with more contemporary or experimental music.
