Boyzone

Dublin pop group

Boyzone was an Irish boy band formed in Dublin in 1993, one of the most successful pop groups of the late 1990s.

The name combines *boy* with *zone*, suggesting a space defined by youthful male performers.

Their hits included "Words" and "No Matter What." The group disbanded in 2000 but reunited in 2007.

Member Stephen Gately's death in 2009 marked a significant loss for the band and its fans.
