Black Twitter
Melanated online discourse
Black Twitter refers to a loose community of Black users on the social media platform Twitter (now X), recognized for creating viral content, driving cultural conversations, and shaping internet vernacular.
The term names not a separate platform but a network effect—Black voices amplifying each other around shared cultural touchstones, humor, and social issues.
Black Twitter has launched memes, hashtag movements like #BlackLivesMatter, and influenced mainstream media coverage.
Black Twitter was not having it with that casting choice.
