Backdoor

Covert access point

A backdoor is a rear or secondary entrance to a building, often more private or discreet than the front.

By extension, backdoor describes anything covert or unofficial: a backdoor deal, a backdoor approach to the problem.

In computing, a backdoor is a hidden method of bypassing normal security to access a system—sometimes built in deliberately by developers, sometimes installed by hackers: The malware created a backdoor for remote access.

As a verb, to backdoor is to gain entry through such covert means.
