Anthony Fauci
Anthony Fauci is an American physician and immunologist who served as director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases from 1984 to 2022.
He became a household name during the COVID-19 pandemic as a leading voice on public health measures, making him both a trusted authority to some and a polarizing figure to others: Fauci recommended masking in crowded spaces.
His name became shorthand in political debates about pandemic response and government overreach.
