Air America
Covert government carrier
Air America was a covert airline operated by the CIA from 1950 to 1976, primarily in Southeast Asia.
It provided logistical support for military and intelligence operations while maintaining the appearance of a civilian cargo carrier.
The airline became synonymous with clandestine government activities during the Vietnam War era: Air America pilots flew missions into Laos that officially never happened.
The name has since become shorthand for secret government operations conducted under civilian cover.
