Addis
Ethiopian capital, informally
Addis is the short form of Addis Ababa, the capital and largest city of Ethiopia, located in the central highlands of the country.
The name means "new flower" in Amharic.
In casual usage, people often drop "Ababa" when the context is clear: I spent three weeks in Addis.
The city serves as the headquarters of the African Union and is sometimes called the diplomatic capital of Africa.
