Acuvue is a brand of disposable contact lenses made by Johnson & Johnson, one of the most widely recognized names in vision correction.
The brand pioneered daily and weekly disposable lenses in the late 1980s: I've worn Acuvue since college.
Like many dominant brands, the name sometimes stands in casually for contact lenses generally.
