ATM skimming
Electronic pickpocketing method
ATM skimming is a form of fraud where criminals attach devices to cash machines to steal card data and PINs.
A skimmer fits over the card slot to read the magnetic stripe, while a hidden camera or fake keypad captures the PIN.
Thieves then clone the card to drain accounts.
Check for loose parts before inserting your card—ATM skimming is more common than you'd think.
