ASL alphabet
Hand-shaped letter system
The ASL alphabet is the set of handshapes used in American Sign Language to fingerspell English words letter by letter.
Each of the 26 letters has a distinct one-handed gesture.
Signers use it primarily for proper nouns, technical terms, and words without established signs: She fingerspelled her name using the ASL alphabet.
