AMBER

Missing-child notification system

AMBER is an acronym for America's Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response, a system that issues urgent alerts when a child is reported abducted.

The alerts broadcast descriptions across television, radio, and mobile phones to aid rapid recovery.

Named after Amber Hagerman, a nine-year-old abducted and murdered in Texas in 1996.

An AMBER Alert went out for the missing toddler.
