AB positive
Rare transfusion type
AB positive is a blood type in the ABO system, characterized by the presence of both A and B antigens on red blood cells and the Rh factor protein.
It's the rarest of the eight common blood types but makes someone a universal plasma donor.
AB positive individuals can receive red blood cells from any blood type, making them universal recipients: The ER noted she was AB positive, so any donor blood would work.
