The 9/11 Commission was a bipartisan U.S. government body created in 2002 to investigate the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
Officially the National Commission on Terrorist Attacks Upon the United States, it examined intelligence failures, emergency response, and security lapses.
Its 2004 report became a bestseller and led to major reforms in homeland security and intelligence gathering.
