yard show
Outdoor decorative exhibition
A yard show is a step show or dance performance held outdoors, typically on a college campus lawn or courtyard.
The term comes from historically Black colleges and universities, where Greek-letter organizations perform synchronized stepping routines in open spaces: The Alphas put on an incredible yard show during homecoming week.
These informal performances build community and showcase fraternity or sorority pride.
