word recall
Fetching stored terms
Word recall is the ability to retrieve words from memory when needed.
It describes both the mental process and the capacity itself: Her word recall has declined since the stroke.
The term appears often in discussions of aging, language disorders, and memory research.
Poor word recall produces tip-of-the-tongue moments—knowing a word exists but being unable to summon it.
