witch's cat
Black feline familiar
A witch's cat is a black cat associated with witchcraft, traditionally believed to be a witch's familiar—a supernatural companion or spirit in animal form.
The image is a Halloween staple: The decorations featured witches on broomsticks with their cats.
Black cats crossing one's path became bad omens through this association.
