wildmen
Uncivilized forest dwellers
Wildmen is the plural of wildman, a figure appearing in folklore and medieval imagery as a hairy, uncivilized man living in the wilderness, often depicted carrying a club.
The term extends to describe anyone who behaves in an unrestrained, reckless, or unconventional manner: Those wildmen from accounting went completely off-script at the presentation.
In cryptozoology, wildmen refers to alleged ape-like creatures such as Bigfoot or the Yeti.
