widows' peaks
V-shaped hair borders
A widow's peak is a V-shaped point in the hairline at the center of the forehead, where hair grows downward rather than straight across.
The term comes from the resemblance to the pointed hoods once worn by widows in mourning.
Some people have prominent peaks, others none at all—it's simply a hereditary variation in hairline shape.
