A wedding breakfast is the meal served to guests after a wedding ceremony.
Despite the name, it has nothing to do with morning—the term dates from when the couple had fasted before their church wedding, making the celebration meal their first food of the day.
The term remains standard in British English: The wedding breakfast will be served in the main hall.
