weak links
Chain's vulnerable spots
Weak links are the vulnerable points in a chain, system, or organization—the parts most likely to fail under stress.
The phrase comes from the proverb that a chain is only as strong as its weakest link: Security experts look for weak links in the network.
In social network theory, weak links (or weak ties) are loose acquaintances rather than close connections, paradoxically valuable because they bridge otherwise separate groups.
