warming center
Emergency heat station
A warming center is a facility opened during cold weather emergencies to provide shelter for people who might otherwise suffer exposure.
Typically operated by local governments, churches, or community organizations, warming centers offer a heated space where homeless individuals or those without adequate heating can stay temporarily.
The city opened three warming centers when temperatures dropped below zero.
