vocal registers
Chest and falsetto
Vocal registers are the distinct ranges of the human voice, each produced by different configurations of the vocal cords.
The main registers are chest voice (lower, resonant), head voice (higher, lighter), and falsetto (highest, breathy).
Singers train to move smoothly between registers: She transitioned from chest to head voice on the high note.
The break between registers is called the passaggio.
