vanity license plate
Custom car identification
A vanity license plate is a vehicle registration plate with a customized combination of letters and numbers chosen by the owner, typically spelling a name, word, or message: His vanity plate read LVMYCAR.
States charge extra fees for them.
The plates range from clever to cringeworthy, limited by character counts and obscenity filters that applicants sometimes try to circumvent.
