unplugged show
Stripped-down live performance
An unplugged show is a musical performance using acoustic rather than electric instruments, or at least minimal amplification.
The term gained currency from MTV's *Unplugged* series in the 1990s, where rock and pop artists performed stripped-down versions of their songs: The unplugged show revealed how strong the melodies really were.
The format emphasizes raw musicianship over studio production.
