uninitiate
One lacking training
An uninitiate is someone who lacks specialized knowledge or experience in a particular field, practice, or group—an outsider to mysteries others understand: The jargon was impenetrable to the uninitiate.
The word functions as both noun and adjective, opposite of initiate.
Less common than uninitiated, which serves the same purposes.
