tv antenna
Rooftop signal catcher
A TV antenna is a device that receives broadcast television signals from the air, converting radio waves into electrical signals your television can display.
Before cable and streaming dominated, most households had antennas—either rabbit ears sitting on top of the set or larger arrays mounted on rooftops.
They remain useful for picking up free local channels: We cut the cord and just use a TV antenna now.
