turf racing
Equestrian grass competition
Turf racing is horse racing on grass tracks rather than dirt.
The term distinguishes this surface from the more common dirt racing in American thoroughbred competition: European horses often dominate turf racing.
Turf courses typically favor different running styles and bloodlines than dirt tracks.
