traumatised
Psychologically wounded now
Traumatised describes someone who has suffered lasting psychological damage from a distressing experience.
The trauma may stem from violence, abuse, accident, or loss: She was traumatised by the attack.
The word applies both to clinical conditions and looser usage for any deeply upsetting experience: I'm still traumatised by that job interview.
