thunking
Heavy hollow sound
Thunking is the sound of a dull, heavy impact—something solid hitting a surface without much bounce: I heard the thunking of logs being stacked outside.
In computing, a thunk is a piece of code that delays evaluation or bridges between different calling conventions; thunking is the process of using such code.
The word also describes the mental effort of working through a problem, from the humorous past tense of "think": I've been thunking about this all day.
