thermal vision
Seeing infrared radiation
Thermal vision is the ability to perceive heat radiation rather than visible light, allowing detection of warm objects in darkness or through obscuring conditions.
Some animals like pit vipers possess natural thermal vision.
The term more often refers to technology—cameras and goggles that display heat signatures: The rescue team used thermal vision to locate survivors in the rubble.
In fiction, thermal vision is a common superpower or enhancement.
