test optional
Assessment not mandatory
Test optional describes an admissions policy that doesn't require standardized test scores like the SAT or ACT.
Applicants may submit scores if they choose, but won't be penalized for omitting them: Many colleges went test optional during the pandemic.
Distinguished from test-blind policies, which ignore scores entirely even if submitted.
