Symptom checking is the process of researching medical symptoms, typically online, to identify possible conditions or determine whether to seek care.
The practice ranges from reasonable self-triage to anxiety-driven spirals: I made the mistake of symptom checking at 2 a.m. and convinced myself I had cancer.
