sugar high
Post-candy energy surge
A sugar high is the burst of energy and hyperactivity supposedly caused by consuming sugary foods, especially in children: The kids were on a sugar high after the birthday cake.
Though widely believed by parents, the phenomenon lacks scientific support—studies consistently fail to find a link between sugar intake and hyperactive behavior.
The term also describes any short-lived state of elation or excitement.
