Trapped in recoil
Stunlocked comes from video games, where a character hit by repeated attacks becomes unable to move or respond—each new hit resets the stun before recovery.
The term has spread to describe any state of paralysis from overwhelming input: I was stunlocked by the news and couldn't process it.
Someone stunlocked by a social media feed or a barrage of bad takes is frozen, unable to look away or react coherently.
