stripling
Boy becoming man
A stripling is a young man not yet fully grown—somewhere between boy and man.
The word is literary and old-fashioned, often carrying a note of inexperience or slight condescension: The general dismissed him as a mere stripling.
It appears mainly in historical fiction and period writing.
