strike forces
Rapid deployment units
Strike forces are military units organized for rapid, offensive action against specific targets.
The term emphasizes speed and concentrated power—surgical operations rather than prolonged campaigns.
Strike forces may be air, naval, or ground units, or combinations assembled for particular missions: The carrier strike force launched airstrikes at dawn.
The concept extends to law enforcement task forces conducting raids.
