stone washing
Fabric aging technique
Stone washing is a fabric treatment that softens and fades denim or other cloth by tumbling it with pumice stones or similar abrasives.
The process gives jeans a worn, broken-in look straight off the rack: stone-washed jeans.
The technique became popular in the 1980s and remains standard in casual clothing production.
