stocktake

Warehouse counting session

A stocktake is a count of inventory—goods on hand in a shop, warehouse, or business.

The term is more common in British, Australian, and New Zealand English than American, where inventory is preferred.

Figuratively, a stocktake is any systematic assessment: It's time for a stocktake of our priorities.

The verb stocktake means to conduct such a count.
