stir-crazy
Restless from confinement
Stir-crazy describes the restless, anxious state that comes from being confined too long in one place.
The stir is prison slang for jail, so originally this meant agitated from incarceration.
Now it applies to anyone cooped up: After three days snowed in, the kids were going stir-crazy.
