starter locs
Baby dreadlock stage
Starter locs are the initial stage of dreadlocks, formed when hair is first sectioned and twisted, coiled, or braided to begin the locking process.
At this phase, the locs are loose and fragile, not yet matured into the tighter, more permanent rope-like strands they'll become: My starter locs are about three months old.
The term distinguishes new locs from mature ones, which can take a year or more to fully form.
